My beauty finds this month

1.Two Faced Natural face palette

2.Proactiv 3 step system

3.Organix Maroccan Argan oil conditioner

4.Organix Brazilian keratin conditioner.

1.Two Faced Natural face Palette

What’s inside…
  • Powder Blush - peachy pink colour
  • Bronze veil - medium tone
  • Crème Blush — creamy rose
  • Concealer — creamy concealer for light-to-medium skin tones
  • Luminiser — universal cream luminiser
  • Brightener — creamy brightener for light-to-medium skin tones
Natural Face (£31) is a wonderful multi-tasker, designed to help create a natural radiant look.

I really adore this palette! I think it is a must-have for medium-skinned girls who are looking to create a natural look with ease. Almost all the products in this palette worked well for me. If the concealer was just a tad darker, every single product would be just perfect!
Price: £31. That is pricey. But, look at how many products are in this kit! I think it is totally worth the price!!!

Blush - This blush is the perfect peachy-pink shade (the swatch above looks more peach, but it really is a pink/peach). It has some subtle shimmer and it looks somewhat luminous on. So pretty! This blush was one of the main reasons that I purchased the palette. I can see how this shade would be flattering on many skin tones.

Bronze Veil — golden bronze bronzer. A nice medium toned bronzer with some very subtle shimmer (shimmer is not really noticeable when it is on). I love that this is a bronzer that wears neutral on me and not orange. Love it! It is subtle and nice!

Crème BlushThis creme blush is a nude/neutral shade. I am excited about this color as I really have no other duplicates in my makeup collection. It works nicely its own or layered with the powder blush for a *super-duper* long lasting blush look. The product is quite creamy and smooth. It blends well. I apply using my fingertips.

Luminizer: This luminizer is a shimmery champagne-pinky sparkling cream. The shimmer/sparkle is noticeable in this product when it is worn on the skin. I like to use just a touch of this on the tops of my cheekbones. The pan size is small on this one. But, that is fine as you just need the smallest touch of product!

2. Proactiv 3 step system

This is probably the most celebrity endorsed acne treatment in the world. Until recently it was only available online or telephone order but the other day I found out they sell it now at large Boots stores. I haven't tried it yet as I'm using Clearasil exfoliating pads at the moment but I'm sure I will quite soon. I like the fact that the active ingredient in these products is salicylic acid and not benzoyl peroxide which is an awful skin sensitiser.

Salicylic acid is a favourite exfoliant of mine. I recommend you using it even if you don't have acne or blemishes at all. It clarifies, brightens and smoothes the complexion. If used on a regular basis it can actually get rid of superficial lines.I really use it as a wrinkle preventer...
It's really a multi-tasker. One of my favourite products.

Proactiv 3 step system costs £39.99
You can buy it online here

3.  Organix Maroccan argan oil conditioner - £6.99

4. Organix Brazilian keratin conditioner - £6.99

I have tried all different conditioners from the Organix line but these two are my favorites. They both have such a great fragrance and work awesome. The argan oil one I use when my hair feels dry and the Brazilian keratin when I want a straight and sleek hair. Knowing this they are sulfate and paraben free is also a huge plus.
I usually wash my hair with my lemon shampoo from Avalon organics as soon as I get in the shower, then put one of the conditioners, depending on what my hair needs that day and leave it on for the length of my shower. When I finally rinse it out my hair would feel so silky and smooth. I definitely recommend both there conditioners to people with a medium to very dehydrated hair.

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 hour wear. Best foundation so far.

One product I use every single day without fail, but rarely write about, is foundation.
It's shame since I almost never leave the house without wearing any.

Smashbox Studio Skin 15 hour wear is my new favourite foundation.I have to give this product 5 stars. Not only is it sweat/transfer/water resistant, but it's also paraben and cruelty free, which is important to me.  The instance I tried the Smashbox Studio Skin on, I LOVED IT! Great satin finish, very natural finish..

I have tried many different foundations. Anywhere from drug stores, department stores, and specialty makeup stores. This is the best foundation I've ever used.

It also truly does last for 15 hours. The coverage is excellent, and it controls shine all day with little or no powder touch-ups. It looks freshly applied throughout the day, and never looks caked on. The color does not fade, skin remains hydrated, and the coverage hides imperfections. It's easy to apply, and blends effortlessly. It stands up to heat, sweat, and humidity. I have finally found the perfect foundation!

The price for this is £27.50, which is expensive but comparable with the likes of Estee Lauder and Lancome.  I'll pay anything up to about £30 for a good one - after all, I'll be wearing it on my face for 60 hours a week, minimum!

I bought mine from Boots on London's Kensington High street but I'm not sure if all Boots stores sell it.

Hourglass Film Noir. Best mascara. Ever.

I was given  a sample of this mascara and when I tried it on I was blown away by how smooth the formula is!  People sometimes ask if I have fake lashes on. It lasts all day and is semi-waterproof. It doesn't come off when crying but does come off easily when washing your face. It also has a wonderful shine to it so when you wear only one coat it really just looks like an enhanced version of natural lashes! It also holds curl very very well!

This mascara is everything I could ask for. It lengthens,  thickens and defines w/o clumping, smudging or flaking. The tube lasts forever without drying out like some of those other popular brands.

Best mascara. Ever

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (dry body oil)

Two things I envy people who live in Paris for - baked goods and pharmacies. Nuxe is France's premiere pharmacy brand and just like croissants can be found on every corner.
I've been having an on and off affair with the Nuxe multipurpose oil for almost 12 years. It's my favourite for many reasons.

It has a super-activated formula that combines 30% of precious plant oils and vitamin E to nourish, repair and soften face, body and hair in a single gesture. It has an unique cocktail of 6 precious plant oils (borage, St Johnswort, sweet almond, camellia, hazelnut, macadamia) with a sweet fragrance for velvety skin and silky hair.

I love using this in the summer when I show a lot of skin - I put some on my legs, shoulders, arms and decolletage for a subtle glow and to keep my skin smooth and moisturised. It's absolutely lovely and doesn't leave an oily residue loke most body oils.

Nuxe has an "Or" ("gold") version of the Huile Prodigieuse that is more bronzy and shimmery and will look good on tanned skin but I always use the regular one since I like it so much and I find its subtle glow to be enough for me.
You can buy Nuxe products from most large Boots and pharmacies in the UK.

Enjoy!

How much your overall health depends on the quality of your food?

Please watch this amazing short film and recommend to your friends and family. Education and publicity on nutrition is needed now more than ever.

The film is about Dr.Weston Price (1870-1948), a Cleveland dentist, has been called the "Charles Darwin of Nutrition." In his search for the causes of dental decay and physical degeneration that he observed in his dental practice, he turned from test tubes and microscopes to unstudied evidence among human beings. Dr. Price sought the factors responsible for fine teeth among the people who had them- the isolated "primitives."

The world became his laboratory. As he traveled, his findings led him to the belief that dental caries and deformed dental arches resulting in crowded, crooked teeth and unattractive appearance were merely a sign of physical degeneration, resulting from what he had suspected-nutritional deficiencies.

Price traveled the world over in order to study isolated human groups, including sequestered villages in Switzerland, Gaelic communities in the Outer Hebrides, Eskimos and Indians of North America, Melanesian and Polynesian South Sea Islanders, African tribes, Australian Aborigines, New Zealand Maori and the Indians of South America. Wherever he went, Dr. Price found that beautiful straight teeth, freedom from decay, stalwart bodies, resistance to disease and fine characters were typical of primitives on their traditional diets, rich in essential food factors.

When Dr. Price analyzed the foods used by isolated primitive peoples he found that they provided at least four times the calcium and other minerals, and at least TEN times the fat-soluble vitamins from animal foods such as butter, fish eggs, shellfish and organ meats.

The importance of good nutrition for mothers during pregnancy has long been recognized, but Dr. Price's investigation showed that primitives understood and practiced preconception nutritional programs for both parents. Many tribes required a period of premarital nutrition, and children were spaced to permit the mother to maintain her full health and strength, thus assuring subsequent offspring of physical excellence. Special foods were often given to pregnant and lactating women, as well as to the maturing boys and girls in preparation for future parenthood. Dr. Price found these foods to be very rich in fat soluble vitamins A and D.

These primitives with their fine bodies, homogeneous reproduction, emotional stability and freedom from degenerative ills stand forth in sharp contrast to those subsisting on the impoverished foods of civilization-sugar, white flour, pasteurized milk and convenience foods filled with extenders and additives.

The photographs of Dr. Weston Price illustrate the difference in facial structure between those on native diets and those whose parents had adopted the "civilized" diets of devitalized processed foods.

The discoveries and conclusion of Dr. Price are presented in his classic volume Nutrition and Physical Degeneration. The book contains striking photographs of handsome, healthy primitives and illustrates in an unforgettable way the physical degeneration that occurs when human groups abandon nourishing traditional diets in favor of modern convenience foods.

In addition to his work on nutrition, Dr. Price conducted extensive research into the destructive effects of root canals, detailed in his two-volume work Dental Infections Oral & Systemic and Dental Infections & the Degenerative Diseases. His conclusions, ignored by the orthodox dental establishment for over 50 years, are gaining renewed acceptance as holistic practitioners are discovering that the first step to recovery from degenerative disease often involves removal of all root canals in the patient's mouth.

The principles of holistic dentistry, based on the research of Weston Price and Francis Pottenger, are as follows:

Eat nutrient-dense whole foods, properly grown and prepared.
Avoid root canals. If you have root canals that you suspect are causing disease, have them removed by a knowledgable dentist.
Avoid mercury (amalgam) fillings. If you have amalgam fillings, have them removed by a holistic dentist who specializes in mercury filling replacement.
Orthodontics should include measures to widen the palate.
Extract teeth only when necessary, and then in such a way as to avoid leaving the jaw bone with cavitations, which can be focal points of infection.

Post-holiday blues

Freedom is a dangerous thing, at least for us office workers. When you get to taste a bit of it (maybe not that little as I was free for most of the summer) going back to work is tough and routine seems totally absurd.
Lost between my TO DO list and piles of laundry no surprise I'm feeling a bit down.

I'm sure I'll feel much better in a week or two. Unfortunately right now all I want to do is sleep and watch telly.

....reminiscing with my pup on my last holiday in Portugal in pictures...
